Common Symptoms

Signs You Need This Service

Clunk or knock over bumps

A clunk from the front end over speed bumps or potholes is usually a worn sway bar link, a ball joint, or a strut mount. We find which one with the car on stands at your location, not by replacing parts in order until the noise stops.

Wandering, pulling, or a shaky wheel

A steering wheel that wanders on the highway, a pull to one side, or a shimmy at speed points at tie rods, bearings, or worn bushings. We check play in every joint and tell you what is loose and what is fine.

Tires wearing on the inside edge

Uneven tire wear is the suspension telling on itself. Worn components let the alignment drift, and new tires will wear the same way until the loose part is replaced. We fix the cause first.

What To Expect

Suspension Repair, Start To Finish

We put the car on jack stands where it sits and check every joint by hand: ball joints, tie rod ends, sway bar links, control arm bushings, wheel bearings, and strut mounts. You get a list of what is actually worn and a quote on book time at $125 per hour plus parts before we start.

Sway bar links, tie rod ends, and most strut jobs are done in your driveway in one to three hours depending on the vehicle. Press-fit ball joints and some control arms take longer, and we say so up front.

If we replace tie rods or anything that changes toe, we tell you the car needs an alignment afterward and why. We do not pretend a driveway job replaces an alignment rack.

Frequently Asked

Questions & Answers

A worn sway bar link is noisy but not dangerous. A failing ball joint or tie rod end is, because either can separate and take the steering with it. If the noise is new and getting louder, have us look before a long drive.

Most of it, yes. Sway bar links, tie rod ends, struts, and many control arms are normal driveway jobs across Plano and the surrounding cities. Parts that need a shop press are the exception, and we tell you when that applies.

After tie rods, control arms, or struts, usually yes. We tell you before the job so you can plan the alignment stop, and we set things as close as we can so the drive there is safe.

Labor is book time at $125 per hour plus parts for your vehicle, quoted up front after we inspect it. Sway bar links are on the low end, struts and control arms higher, and there is no tow bill.
