Common Symptoms
Signs You Need This Service
Battery light on while driving
A battery warning light with the engine running means the alternator is not charging. You are running on whatever is left in the battery, and that is usually less than an hour of driving. Get somewhere safe and call before it quits in traffic.
Dimming headlights and a whine under the hood
Headlights that dim at idle and brighten when you rev, a whining noise that changes with engine speed, or a burning rubber smell all point at the alternator or its belt and pulley. We test the output at your location before replacing anything.
New battery, and the car still dies
If a fresh battery went flat in a few days, the alternator is not recharging it. We check charging voltage, the belt, and the wiring so you are not buying a third battery for an alternator problem.
What To Expect
Alternator Replacement, Start To Finish
We test the charging system at the car first: output voltage, ripple, belt condition, and the pulley. If the alternator is the fault we quote the job on book time at $125 per hour plus the part, before any work starts.
Most alternators come out and go back in within one to two hours in your driveway or office lot. Some engines need the alternator out from below or through the wheel well, and we tell you when yours is one of them.
After the install we verify charging voltage with the engine running and loads on, so the fix is proven before we leave. If the battery took damage from running flat, we say so and let you decide.

Questions & Answers
Only far enough to reach a safe spot. With the alternator down the car runs on the battery alone, and most die within an hour. Pull into a lot, call us, and we come to you in Plano or the surrounding cities.
Always. Charging output, belt, pulley, and wiring get checked at your location first. A loose belt or a bad ground can look exactly like a dead alternator, and we do not replace parts on a guess.
One to two hours for most cars and trucks in a driveway or office lot. Engines where the alternator is buried low or behind other components take longer, and we tell you before we start.
Labor is book time at $125 per hour plus the part for your vehicle. You get the full number before any work starts, and there is no tow bill on top of it.
